5 Leadership Models Great Leaders Use
Just as there are many types of leaders there are also many types of leadership models. In this blog we will explore 5 that are used by great leaders.
1. Transformational Leadership Model
Integrity and vision are core qualities of transformational leaders. They achieve goals through open lines of communication with staff, demonstrating their overall integrity and respect they hold for their staff’s experience and knowledge. This mutual respect leads to wins in staff satisfaction and employee retention.
2. Transactional Leadership Model
Transactional leadership works on a rewards-based model which means it is based on the concept of a employee’s personal interests (as opposed to company interests) is the principal factor motivating them to complete an assigned task or reach a performance level. Transactionall leaders, will set performance goals for staff, promise a reward, and provide that reward upon their successful completion of the goal.
3. Servant Leadership Model
Servant leaders like a servant in the traditional sense use selflessness with a focus on the higher needs of others to achieving a vision. Through awareness, and self-reflection they gain insight into their overall work and purpose. Being of good character is key to this style of leadership as it requires humility and also being able to improve morale and overall confidence in the workplace.
4. Autocratic Leadership Model
Autocratic leaders generally speaking dont consult with or even consider the opinions of others when making decisions. They are self-determind and take action into their own hands. They expect others to follow them and sometimes not even challenge their stance.
5. Charismatic Leadership Model
Charm and vision are at the heart and soul of charismatic leaders. These types of leaders are able to grow a company and turn their staff into their followers and “disciples” to achieve company goals and vision. They usually have high levels of certainty combined with a magnetic personality that draws people to them. They are generally seen as a source of inspriration and motivation.
